Adam Fraser-Kruck graduated from the University of Manitoba in 2010 with a B.Sc. in Computer Engineering (honours), and dual minors in Computer Science, and marketing. He currently gets paid by a large telecommunications company to play with the newest smart phones, design robust Wi-Fi solutions, write code, and learn just about anything.
Although I enjoy my primary job, I don't really need to use many of my computer engineering skills. To help stay sharp, I take on small electronics based contracts. I've worked with Microchip PIC16, PIC24, AVR/Arduino, and ARM processors. I'm comfortable in designing and fabricating dual sided PCBs with parts as small as 0805 and TSSOP ICs. I've completed numerous contracts mainly regarding the control of remote hardware, analog video (NTSC) multiplexing, and protocol converters. If you're interested in my services, drop me a line at firstname.lastname@example.org and we'll talk. Note: I have an understanding with my current employer that I will turn down any projects that are a conflict of interest with my primary job. It's only fair - they do pay my mortgage :)
Why start a blog?
Mainly because I benefit so much from the internet and was tired of feeling like a leach. I aim to put up content at least once a month. Might be a useful online calculator, a neat idea to try, or a review of something to help guide your next purchase. Why the name 'olkie'? Because I like it! Seriously. I wanted a short domain name that wasn't too serious, and was easy enough to say and remember. Have a good backronym? Share it! Here are some of my favorites :)
